Whew! It's good to be home. The Appalachians were bejeweled with amber and rust as we drove all over northwest New Jersey and the Poconos. Everyone we visited seemed the same as always, only slightly older as I'm sure we seemed to them. My travel habits are just that — habits. I always go to the same place on vacation: Chicago, because my family lives there, and I get to see them so seldom that I feel I should go whenever I have significant time off work. All my other trips are up to the in-laws’ house in the Poconos or to the Jersey Shore, so nothing dramatic. But if you’re planning a real vacation, it might be a good idea to purchase travel insurance. Note I say, “might,” because insurance is always a bit of a gamble. Summer came and went so quickly. In fact, we're well into the fall season, according to the lunar calendar. Last Sunday was Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, aka Moon Festival, which falls on August 15th of the lunar calendar, and is a very special day in Chinese culture. I've written a post about the legends and my reflections of the day. I hope you had enjoyed your summer vacation as much as I did. As much as I love editing (and I’m sure most professional editors do too) it’s always worth pointing out that sometimes it’s good just to get out of the editing room. Last week I had the opportunity to spend a few days on a working/fun trip up in the Poconos shooting video for my brother-in-law’s automotive website. ok, so last week's paper adventure prompt from elise was, and i quote,"What do you collect?" which gave me a few choices. i have quite a few art supplies, as well you know, and loads of books...but i don't really consider those collections...more like necessities.
