Just thought I'd share some of the embroidery I've been working on. These are all from a project I am working on for Cis and I have another morning in my sewing room today (don't be hatin') so I may even get it finished. It has been such a creative and productive week for me. This was just what I was hoping for back in November when I was up to my eyeballs in hair clips and traveling art shows. Well, I started this new year trying my brand new Pfaff (a present from sweet hubby for my retirement), and though being a handpiecer, I must admit it was veeeeery pleasant and it worked like a breeze (nothing to do at all with that naughty, old Toyota!)So I chose to make a nice top with the 9 beautiful Lemoyne stars, that Christine had sent to me last year (remember?) I have signed up to a 2 month pledge and to this end have decided to use as much fabric donated by my dear Mother when she cleared up her sewing cupboard, also some fabric I have bought too. She also donated quite a bit of wool too, so I spend some evenings knitting to finish a tank top started before Christmas. At 10.00pm the evening before Clare’s birthday, I suddenly remembered that I hadn’t finished making one of her birthday presents. I’d barely started. Hosting Christmas at my house must have used up an energy cache that I didn't know I had, because I've been super sleepy ever since. Last night, I put myself to bed at 8:30, shut off the light at 9:00 and was apparently dead to the world around 9:30 when my husband came to bed. Happy Thursday! It’s almost the weekend! Wow…this week is really going fast. Hello blog! I've been looking forward to this moment, but at the same time it is hard to decide where to start after a long break. The last two months of 2008 were very hectic and the theme seemed to be "one flu a week", so I decided to take a break from work to get well, be a full-time mum and recharge my batteries. It seems to have worked, even the weather is on my side this year, it is freezing and sunny so I think I will have to take a walk at lunch to catch some of the beauty before it disaThe next project
I'm just gonna put that trouser failure behind me for now. Next up is this Burda tunic dress (it's the brown print one in the picture, though I might add the collar from the red dress below it).The pattern and instructions can be downloaded off their website for free, so I spent most of TLM's nap time today printing and taping all 24 pages of the pattern together. It's supposed to be easy, and it's loose-fitting so I shouldn't have all the fitting issues that have made trouser-sewing such a hassnot quite a refashion
So I am not really refashioning at the moment, as there are other things on my plate... Like this dress. You can read all about it on my blog. But here is a photo of progress as of yesterday. I spent some time today doing tedious things like boning... So far channels for 7 of 11 bones are in... What you see is the underlining of the top and the lining for the skirt. I promise I have more of a fashion sense than to go out in public in something like that... But there will be some fun upcycle |
