It’s only been nine years or so that I’ve been complaining about my rice cooker. It cooks good rice, most of which sticks to the pot and has to be soaked off. I got tired of waiting for it to die after I read in the Washington Post that rice cookers tend to last for thirty years, so I put a new rice cooker on my Christmas list. It is not every day that you come across a product that makes you think OMG! However, this one has to be one of those that almost close enough to tip you over the edge. They are designed and produced in Japan, where else! Nevertheless, even though these lamps look slightly scary they are at the same time cool, because there is no need to have them in red, there are plenty of other colours out there to use. Do not worry about those toilet roll holders, which are just a normal piece of plastic, these ones, are real eye openers, although it looks like they are only held on with those plastic suction cups, so with one large tug the whole thing could end up in your lap. Here are some of my kitchen gadgets. I highly recommend each one: Zojirushi NS-ZCC18 10-Cup Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker - this is by far the BEST rice cooker I've ever owned. It gives you perfectly cooked rice, in my opinion. I know some of you might think that steamed rice is all the same but believe me, I am a convert. This rice cooker also has settings for Sushi rice, porridge, brown rice and mixed rice (rice with added ingredients such as vegetables and meat). The only disadvantage is it takes Oots lunch box
I take my lunch to work every day. I guess I am totally spoiled to have a wife that is an amazing cook, and the idea of having to get something less than amazing isn’t too appealing. Don’t laugh. This “electric dispensing pot” is pretty awesome. Basically, you pour tap water into its 3-liter basin and it keeps water at a constant hot temperature for you. We had toyed with getting one of these when we lived in Hawaii, but how often do you really need hot water on a hot-ass island? Not as often as here apparently. My aunt and uncle have been using a regular bread machine for years to make celiac-safe bread, so I was surprised to find that Breville has come out with a bread machine, the $270 ikon Baker’s Oven, which sports a gluten-free program.
